Dylan McCaffrey Goes Blue

It doesn't come as much of a surprise, but it's pleasant nonetheless that Michigan has picked up its top quarterback target for the Class of 2017, Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian quarterback Dylan McCaffrey.

The 6-4, 185-pounder is the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback and No. 114 overall prospect nationally in the 2017 class, and marks the second year in a row (and third time in five years) U-M has landed the top player in the Centennial State.

During his junior year, McCaffrey led a powerful Valor Christian team to a 12-2 state championship mark, completing 207 of 320 passes (64.7 percent) for exactly 2800 yards (8.8 per attempt) with 27 touchdowns and just four interceptions.

For his efforts, he was named to The Denver Post All-Colorado High School Football Team.

McCaffrey is the son of longtime NFL receiver Ed McCaffrey (who attended Stanford along with wife Lisa, a fellow student-athlete whose soccer career was cut short by injury), and younger brother of 2015 Heisman runner-up Christian McCaffrey. Eldest brother Max is a senior wide receiver at Duke, and younger brother Luke is a running back on the Valor Christian team.

McCaffrey is the fifth commitment in Michigan's 2017 class - after the Wolverines lost wide receiver JJ Holloman last week. He picked U-M over Duke, LSU, Arizona State, Northwestern, and many others.
