Michigan In The Top Four For Stanford Samuels

Michigan signed three players from Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan in the 2016 class: linebackers Devin Bush Jr. and Devin Gil, and safety Josh Metellus. They also added another Falcon to the program when head coach Devin Bush Sr. was added to the staff as a defensive analyst.

The Flanagan-to-Ann Arbor pipeline may have a little more life in it. Two class of 2017 prospects hold offers from the Maize and Blue, and last night, cornerback Stanford Samuels III named Michigan one of his top schools.

The 6-1, 161-pounder is close with his former teammates who are soon to be (or in the case of both Bushes, already are) wearing the Maize and Blue. Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia are the other schools still on the list.

"That definitely helps," he said. "Those are like my best friends: I call them my brothers. We're always together when we're at home. I'm trying not to let that make my decision for me, but it will weigh on my options."

Samuels is the No. 7 cornerback and No. 61 overall prospect nationally in the 2017 class, and plans to take a summer visit to Ann Arbor before narrowing his list to the final contender - and making a commitment.

Michigan isn't the only program with which he has some serious connections, though. His father - and now Bush's replacement as the headman at Flanagan - Stanford Samuels Jr. played at Florida State. However, the Wolverines will have their own chance to impress him in-person down the road.
